Facility Rules & Guidelines for Safe Skating
During most hours of operation, the oval is open to all users. A small minority of operating hours is protected for users on long blade skates (speed skates and nordic blades) only. This is for the safety of all types of skaters. Please review the Hours of Operation for further information on the schedule.

General Rules
- Oval and parking lot may be under continual surveillance from security cameras.
- No smoking within the oval venue and within 30 meters of the entrance gate.
- No alcoholic beverages are permitted on the site.
- The Prince George Outdoor Ice Oval is a violence and harassment free facility.
- No hockey sticks, pucks or nets are permitted in the oval venue property or on the oval ice surface.
- Please adhere to the posted skater’s responsibility code and ice rules. Be responsible for your own safety in all activities.
Skater’s Code of Conduct
Ice Rules for Open Skating (all types of skates are allowed, including nordic blades and speed skates)
- No supervision is provided. Skate at your own risk.
- Enter ice from the designated area.
- Use caution when crossing track being careful to avoid collisions.
- Skate counterclockwise.
- Pass on the outside.
- Slower skaters keep to the inside; faster skaters keep to the outside.
- Sleds and strollers allowed in inner lane only. Please use caution when crossing.
- Speed skates and Nordic skates allowed, but limit speed to recreational levels. No trains.
- Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- Helmets are recommended.
- If you create a hole in the ice surface please please let a volunteer know, or contact us so that repairs can be made promptly.
- Dangerous skating will not be tolerated.
- All participants are to comply with the facility rules and guidelines.
Ice Rules for Speed Skating (speed skates and nordic blades)
- No supervision is provided. Skate at your own risk.
- Enter ice from the designated area.
- Use caution when crossing ice being careful to avoid collisions. If you need assistance to access the inner lane ask a coach or other speed skater for assistance.
- Skate counterclockwise.
- Pass on the outside.
- Stopping only in inner lane; slower skaters use middle lane, faster skaters use outer lane.
- Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- Helmets are recommended.
- If you create a hole in the ice surface please please let a volunteer know, or contact us so that repairs can be made promptly.
- Dangerous skating will not be tolerated.
